Artist Styles for Midjourney

I am using Midjourney so much for everything, I thought I might as well learn a little about different artists while at it.

While there's still lots to learn just on the actual prompt side, I found there is much to explore on the different artists.

Hiroshige

Here's a brief bio on Hiroshige:

Hiroshige (1797-1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist who specialized in woodblock prints and paintings. He is considered one of the last great masters of ukiyo-e and is best known for his horizontal landscape series The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō and for his vertical landscape series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.

Hiroshige established his own unique style within the ukiyo-e genre. He brought an eye for perspective and realism to his landscapes, capturing minute details of everyday life and nature. His choice of colors was also innovative, often using gradations of color or different hues to evoke atmosphere and lighting.

In his lifetime, Hiroshige worked under the tutelage of ukiyo-e master Utagawa Toyohiro. He eventually took on the name Hiroshige after his master passed away. Hiroshige's prints were very commercially successful and popularized landscape prints in the ukiyo-e genre. He trained many students as well before passing away at age 62.

Hiroshige left a lasting influence on 19th century Japanese art. His landscapes inspired Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters like Monet and van Gogh. He continues to be recognized as one of Japan's greatest woodblock print artists.

Tang Yau Hoong (born 1943) is a Singaporean artist known for his abstract and minimalist paintings. He was an early pioneer of the modern art scene in Singapore.

Tang studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in the 1960s, where he was influenced by the academy's blend of Western and Chinese art techniques. During the 1960s and 70s, Tang experimented with abstraction using Chinese calligraphic brushstrokes. His paintings from this period feature large abstract shapes and gestural brushwork.

In the 1980s, Tang transitioned to a more minimalist style, often working in series focused on variations of shape, color and composition. His minimalist works feature geometric forms, clean lines, and solid blocks of color. Tang pares down his paintings to their most essential elements of form and color.

A defining feature of Tang's work is the influence of Chinese aesthetics. Even in his most minimal works, the compositional balance and restrained color palette reference Chinese artistic principles. The solidness of Tang's forms also connects back to the permanence of Chinese ink painting.

Tang Yau Hoong played an important role in the development of modern abstract painting in Singapore. His oeuvre represents a unique blend of Western abstraction with Chinese aesthetic values. He is considered one of the pioneers of the Singapore modern art movement.
