Tying Everything to Human Needs

Figuring out niche, offer, or perhaps even a start-up seems to ultimately go back to how much Resonance is there with a decision-maker's needs.

In the Creator Economy, where goods and services often are sold to individuals, identifying how impactful one can be in those core needs seems to be the essence.

This is obvious and people often talk about it.

I "know it" in my head, but never took the time to think more deeply about it and write it out.

The default is always Maslow, which might be worth digging into later.

But the core needs at least in the creator space are:

Within each one of these are means and tactics to get there. But in the "self improvement" space, those are the three.

One could argue that some desire to achieve "enlightenment" or meaning, and I think that is going to be an emerging one.

Most people, however, seek "inner peace" by achieving their goals in terms of the first three: wealth, health, and relationships.

That could be one way to carve it out as a separate goal, but in general, I'm not sure many people seek this fourth category independent of the others. Perhaps this will change and grow.

But let's look at those three and see how even selling to businesses this can be relevant.

Businesses often have the stated needs of:

And yet, while these are important, good solutions which provide such value also have a hard time getting sold into companies when they:

A fantastic solution that makes one or more influencers unhappy will likely get kiboshed.

Those with a PLG motion tend to get adopted because it helps someone become more efficient, get work done more quickly, and help them be more productive of successful.

To put it in term of the first three:

It seems that anything one designs or offers needs to touch one or more of these three to be of interest to anybody else.
